By 2024, Meta (previously Facebook) plans to deploy four new virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) devices.

The fast timeframe reflects Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s ambition to progress his metaverse dream by encouraging more people to adopt VR gadgets, according to the Information.

“According to a person familiar with the situation, Meta is planning to debut Project Cambria, a high-end VR and mixed-reality headset it is marketing as a device for the future of work, around September,” the report stated.

Cambria’s second version, code-named Funston, is expected to be released in 2024.

Project Cambria is expected to cost roughly $799, which is higher than the Quest VR headsets’ $299/$399 price tag. The Cambria VR headset might offer high-resolution image quality, allowing you to write and send emails while in VR.

Zuckerberg, who is betting big on metaverse, took a deep dive into his next investment objectives last week, which will fuel the company’s growth.

The social network that they are starting to construct with Horizon, according to Zuckerberg, is the centerpiece of the approach.

During the company’s earnings call, he stated, “We expect to offer a web version of Horizon later this year that will make it easy for users to enter into metaverse experiences from a lot more platforms, even without needing a headset.”

At the moment, the Horizon Worlds social metaverse platform is only available on the company’s Quest VR headsets.

Horizon’s other objective, according to him, is to expand the metaverse economy and assist creators make a livelihood in it.

On the hardware front, Meta Quest 2 remains the most popular virtual reality headset.
