Hangouts Are No Longer Available! Google Notifies Users To Switch From Hangouts To Chats

Google initially stated that customers would switch from Hangouts to Chat in 2020; after a couple of additional phases of the switch, the company disclosed that it would be discontinued in November.

As they had been focusing on improving and user-friendly the platform, Google revealed in a news release that Hangouts would be suspended and that “Google Chat opens up new and better ways to communicate and collaborate.”

According to Google, users using Hangouts on mobile devices will reportedly be urged to switch to Chat through their Gmail accounts or download the Chat app. The same is true for Hangouts users who utilise the web version; they have until July before Chat is imposed upon them.

According to Google, those who use the Hangouts Chrome extension will also be given the option to switch to Chat on the web or download the Chat web app. Starting in July, users using Hangouts in Gmail on the web will receive an upgrade to Chat in Gmail. Although we highly recommend moving to Chat, Hangouts on the web will continue to work until later this year. Users will receive an in-product notification before Hangouts on the web starts diverting users to Chat on the web.

It’s excellent news that most users will have their chats transferred to Chat. If a user wants to save everything from Hangouts, Google suggests using Google Takeover to download everything and “following these processes.”

Google Hangouts, which enables users to communicate via messages, record voice memos, and even make video conversations, was released on May 15, 2013. By activating the “Chat preferred” setting, Google has been making Chat the standard messaging app for all users since March 22.

The company is now trying to attract people to Chat with new features “including direct calling, in-line threading in Spaces, and the ability to share and see multiple pictures.” Users of the chat will also have full access to emojis, gifs, and side-by-side editing in Docs, Slides, and Sheets.
